Ok - I know what you might be thinking, and no; this isn't a plug for a particular hotel. Although I visited a hotel in the beautiful city of Siem Reap, I will not mention it specifically.
What I will say is that the hotels in this area, catering mostly for tourists visiting the stunning Angkor Wat temples nearby, are a mix Western grandeur and Eastern style. The façades and lobbies of these hotels are oozing with French-inspired frivolity, whereas the rooms and amenities follow a design aesthetic much more in-keeping with East Asian elegance.
What really makes them stand out are the spa areas. Of course these are some of the most luxurious you'll find in the whole World, and the experience of a spa is always a good thing. But the minimalist designs that are applied to these areas exude such peacefulness and relaxation. No matter what your mindset is at that given moment, you can't help but be swept away by a sense of tranquility.
